Scurries are an exciting way to showcase a dog’s retrieving skills in a competitive setting, making them an ideal introduction to Gundog competitions.

These events are straightforward and accessible, typically requiring participants to simply show up, pay a nominal fee, and compete. The format is uncomplicated: a blank shot is fired to signal the start, and the timer begins when the dog crosses the starting line to retrieve a dummy, stopping once they return.

This simplicity allows anyone, regardless of their dog’s experience level or breed, to participate. Many newcomers have discovered that scurries can also serve as a great entry point into shooting sports.

At The Scottish Game Fair, we offer fantastic prizes for our winners across two categories—Open and Junior.

Last year, our champions received prizes from notable prize donators, including Sporting Saint, Tuffies Dog Beds, Pureflax and Kronch Dog Food, along with a cash prize of £150 daily from Balbedie K9 Retreat.

Located on the Riverfront, the scurry runs daily from 9 am, inviting all to enjoy a friendly atmosphere and the chance to win exciting rewards for both handlers and their canine companions.
