Battle of the Bothy Bands is a brand-new live music competition launching at the 2026 GWCT Scottish Game Fair, as part of the NFU Mutual Summer Party.

The contestants will face an interactive crowd and a distinguished judging panel, including television personality The Hebridean Baker (Coinneach MacLeod) and professional vocalist Laura Baird. Combining judges’ scores and public votes, the ultimate winner will be crowned on Sunday, walking away with a £1,000 cash prize and the inaugural Bothy Bands championship title.

Laura Baird

With over 16 years of professional experience, I’ve performed live across the UK, featured on BBC1’s All Together Now and headlined major events. With a large social media following and a passion for live music, I’m excited to support and celebrate emerging talent.

As part of the NFU Mutual Regional Team, I also bring over a decade of live music experience, performing in a successful wedding band before returning to smaller acoustic sets in local venues. Passionate about live performance, I’m excited to be involved in the Battle of the Bothy Bands and look forward to hearing the groups on the day.

The Voting Process

Each act will deliver a live set on the Main Stage, showcasing their talent, energy and originality to both the audience and a panel of judges.

With just two bands performing each day, the competition will be fierce.

The winner will be determined through a combination of judges’ scores and public votes, creating an exciting and interactive experience for everyone attending the fair. At the end of the weekend, one band will walk away with a £1,000 cash prize.
