Visitors to this year’s Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust Scottish Game Fair can look forward to breathtaking birds of prey displays as Elite Falconry returns to the Main Arena at Scone Palace this July (3-5).
Recognised as one of the UK’s leading falconry and birds of prey centres, Elite Falconry will deliver two live demonstrations each day across the three-day event, showcasing the remarkable speed, power and intelligence of some of the world’s most impressive raptors.
Among the stars taking to the skies above Perthshire will be River, a magnificent white-tailed eagle, alongside a variety of falcons, hawks, vultures and other birds of prey in a series of educational and entertaining flying displays.
Falconry, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, is one of the world’s oldest field sports, and visitors will have the chance to experience the ancient tradition up close through live commentary, flying demonstrations and opportunities to meet the falconry team throughout the weekend.
As well as the Main Arena displays, visitors can head to the Elite Falconry marquee to learn more about endangered species breeding projects, GPS tracking research involving wild raptors in the UK, and the conservation work supporting birds of prey.
A special highlight during the final demonstration on Sunday will give visitors the rare opportunity to witness vultures at work as nature’s clean-up crew during an up-close educational feeding experience in the Main Arena.
Roxanne Blyther from Elite Falconry said:
“The Scottish Game Fair is always a highlight of the year for us. Scone Palace provides an incredible backdrop for flying birds of prey to soar and gives us the opportunity to share the beauty, athleticism and importance of these remarkable birds with such a large audience.
“We hope visitors leave having learned something new about birds of prey, conservation and the ancient partnership between falconers and raptors. Seeing an eagle soaring overhead is something people never forget.”
Returning to the stunning grounds of Scone Palace from Friday 3-Sunday 5 July, the GWCT Scottish Game Fair will feature an expanded programme of live entertainment, country sports, shopping, food and family-friendly activities.
