The 2026 GWCT Scottish Game Fair welcomed anglers of all ages to compete in the popular Daily Fly Casting Competition, with impressive performances across accuracy, trout distance and salmon distance categories.

Held throughout the weekend at Scone Palace, the competition attracted experienced fly fishers and newcomers alike, with a fantastic selection of prizes awarded to the highest-scoring competitors.

Day One Fly Casting Competition Winners

The opening day saw four competitors take home prizes after outstanding performances in their respective categories.

• Jill Bowler won a knife set with an accuracy score of 18.
• David Robinson claimed a Biltong Boss voucher after recording an accuracy score of 50.
• Alexander Cuthill (15) was the leading junior competitor, winning Twin Peakes caps and fly lines with a trout distance of 16.5 metres and an accuracy score of 29.
• Peter Treichel, from Fish Patagonia, secured Biltong Boss vouchers with a trout distance of 34 metres and a salmon distance of 41 metres.

Day Two Brings Even More Winners

Day Two featured an expanded competition, with 10 winners recognised after the junior categories were divided into Under 12 and 12–17 years.

Men’s Winners

• Accuracy: Willy Inglis – Score: 44 (Distillery Tour)
• Trout Distance: Finlay Thomson – 28.5 metres (Biltong voucher)
• Salmon Distance: Jack Boyle – 44 metres (Biltong voucher)

Women’s Winner

Tash Wright enjoyed an exceptional day, winning all three women’s categories:

• Accuracy: Score 18
• Trout Distance: 19.5 metres
• Salmon Distance: 27.5 metres

Her prizes included a YETI mug, a £30 Biltong voucher, and gin.

• Harry Boyle (Under 12) – 10 metres
• Ben Thomas (17) – 23.5 metres
