This year’s GWCT Scottish Game Fair, taking place from 4–6 July 2025 at the iconic Scone Palace, will be playing host to something truly special – a daily gathering of Scotland’s rarest and most beloved native dog breeds.
We’re thrilled to announce a rare breed meet-up each day of the Fair. The spotlight will be on three remarkable Scottish breeds: the dignified Dandie Dinmont Terrier, the noble Scottish Deerhound, and the elegant Gordon Setter.
Each breed will take centre stage on one of the three days, giving visitors a chance to meet the dogs up close, learn about their history, and chat with dedicated owners and breeders who are working tirelessly to preserve these national treasures.
Our recent photoshoot, held on the majestic grounds of Scone Palace, brought together stunning examples of each breed for a celebration of Scottish canine heritage. The images – capturing everything from the gentle gaze of a Deerhound to the lively character of a Dandie – have garnered widespread attention in the press, drawing praise for both their beauty and the important message they carry about breed preservation.
In a world where many native dog breeds are declining in number, these meet-ups aim to raise awareness and spark renewed interest in Scotland’s original working dogs – each with a rich history intertwined with our land, sport, and culture.
So whether you’re a devoted dog owner, a fan of country life, or simply love a good four-legged companion, don’t miss this unique opportunity to meet some of Scotland’s rarest dogs at the Scottish Game Fair this summer.
